Zorn Gives Injury Update

Jim Zorn wrapped up the day with a review of the injuries.

Stephon Heyer (shoulder) and Shawn Springs (calf) were unable to practice; Springs says he expects to play with a little rest this week; Heyer is unsure whether he will play this week.

Jason Taylor continues to get treatment but was able to jog during practice and took part in some individual drills. Taylor wants to play Sunday, but Zorn was asked if it's just too soon for him to play this week. "I think that, but I wouldn't say that," Zorn responded.

Malcolm Kelly made it through an entire practice, though his ankle was heavily taped. "I was excited about that and he was excited about that," Zorn said of the oft-injured rookie.

Andre Carter was excused from practice to tend to a personal issue. Zorn said "hopefully" Carter will be back tomorrow, but there is a chance he could be excused from work tomorrow as well.

More Zornography:

Just our starting tackle, defensive end and best db.

Alex Trebek: The answer was "Red". Mr. Donahue, you are at -$7,200; Mr. Reynolds.. you seem to have broken your buzzer.. and Mr. Brando, you're naked from the waist down. Let's just move on to "Final Jeopardy". I tell you what, let's just forget the question. All you have to do to win the game is write down the current year. What year it is right now. [ the "Final Jeopardy" theme plays, as the contestants barely make an effort to write down an answer ] It's a number. What year is it this year? It starts with a "19". [ Alex approaches the contestants to check their answers ] Okay, let's see what we've got. Mr. Donahue appears to have written way too much.. in fact, he's still going on. Let's see what he's got so far. [ a lengthy monologue appears on his screen ] Not even close.

Laron Landry is our best DB. Really a strong safety filling in at free safety and completely shutting down the deep pass.

Springs is arguably our best corner, although I give Rogers the edge against a "quickness" guy (i.e. Santana, Steve Smith, etc.).

Greg,
Easily the best jokes of late 90s SNL, you can watchem today and still laugh. The Celebery Jepordy & Cowbell. There was that down type of the post Chris Farly era, and Will Ferral saved it. Then another major down which I blame on Tina Fey and Fallon, that one's going to today.

I think what Zorn was saying with the whole JT injury situation is that its looking like it's too soon for him to play, but he isn't going to say that just yet.

Essentially, wait and see.

Real quick, was perusing the SI site and it had eagles take on our team... specifically LBF who is 2nd in tackles

"MLB London Fletcher
At first glance, Fletcher's gaudy 36 tackles has him tied for second in the NFL. Over the past three games, though, Fletcher's production has steadily declined. Against the Giants in the season opener, Fletcher recorded an impressive 12 solo tackles (17 combined). But in the three games since, he's only registered 11 solo tackles and one forced fumble, which may signal that time is catching up with the 33-year-old linebacker."

No JA, it just means others are getting their tackles in now like Rocky...

off for the day HTTR

Posted by: Zeebs | October 1, 2008 4:12 PM | Report abuse

And only 11 total rushes he could have made a tackle on last week. Maybe two or 3 opportunities in coverage....

Posted by: Zeebs | October 1, 2008 4:17 PM | Report abuse

that has to go in the zogy's quote book...

"I think that, but I wouldn't say that"

anyone know what the "domestic dispute" was about with plexico?

They are not officially releasing anything, but I have it from an secret source that his wife wanted to re-do the bathroom, she put in a green and silver sink. Plex did not like that and pulled it off the wall and smashed it on her head.

Posted by: alex35332 | October 1, 2008 4:21 PM | Report abuse

Who wrote that Fletcher thing....absolutely moronic. First off...The giants ran all over us, so of course the middle LB racks up tackles...also Tackles are a BS way to rate a defense or defensive player, b/c they don't factor many variables...

What horsesiht.

Posted by: chrislarry | October 1, 2008 4:21 PM | Report abuse

No one has touched on how poor the girls punting was. As much as we hated on brooks/frost, their punting gave ARE over 10 yrd return everytime. I repeat ARE had 10.3 average yards returning punts.

Posted by: NFeKPo | October 1, 2008 4:21 PM | Report abuse

Zeebs, did they really say that?? Wow, thats pathetic. How about that the team we played the opening weekend ran the ball MORE, than the next 3 teams that we played, THUS, the high number of tackles.

And using 3 games as the guage to determine that a player is on the decline is pretty smart too...

Posted by: BeantownGreg | October 1, 2008 4:21 PM | Report abuse

Let them think he is on the decline and run right at em. Thats my plan

Posted by: alex35332 | October 1, 2008 4:24 PM | Report abuse

Overall tackles isnt the issue. But the comparison of game 1 vs the next three would lead a smarter man to look into that reason why, and i dont know.... maybe even post that reason so they dont just look like schmoes....

oh well, Philly, eagles fan, what more can you expect.

last comment of the day - about plex... he got his ring, he got his payday... maybe he could care less about keeping in line, since those two things were the only reason for him to stay in line.

I think he will bring it on sunday, but all other bets are off...

ARE may have ended up with a 10.3 average, but that was only because he did get 20+ on 1 return.

The other returns were the all too familiar....lateral electric slide step, then duck.

As I said earlier the Philly's are going to be desperate and desperation breeds an all out effort on their part we cannot take them lightly i can't emphasize enough how this game can propel this team to greater heights in terms of confidence and unity. That London Fletcher post was goofy he is all over the field and always where he should be and yes the Zorn Yogism was funny,he has the makings for one of those Coors Beer commercials in the future.

As for the POST'S PREDICTING DEALIO...

Another stupid internet poll designed to get "hits" to convince advertisers how viable it is.

Which is fine. Out here, the LA Times, also beset by money woes has battled back my now delivering the paper at home either in perforated plastic, or no plastic at all.

Here in the desert, we water our lawns in the early AM, which is why we choose to have plastic wrap.

For the past week or so, despite calls to the Times, they've continued to deliver us a nude paper that is soon saturated.

I'd cancel, but I LIKE newspapers. Also, it's too much work schlepping my Mac stack from the bedroom to the Breakfast table.

Any ideas?
