Zorn rules out LJ; Haynesworth says he was fined
A quick afternoon update, taken from Rick Maese's tweets ...
Coach Jim Zorn said the Redskins have ruled out pursuing running back Larry Johnson, who was cut by the Chiefs on Monday. Johnson is free to sign with any team and has yet to do so.
Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth said he was fined for his role in a sideline incident in Sunday's game in Atlanta. Haynesworth went to the aid of defensive back DeAngelo Hall, who was surrounded on the Falcons' bench. Haynesworth said he wasn't sure of the amount of the fine. That would mean that Hall most likely was fined as well, but we shall see.
Landry says he got the "fine" envelope from league but hasn't opened it. He will send it to his agent to appeal whatever the fine is.
In injury news, Zorn said that:
- Clinton Portis has not been ruled out but is "very, very doubtful" for Sunday's game;
- tight end Chris Cooley will definitely be out two more weeks and that he will be evaluated again in another 10 days or so;
- no decision on whether Hunter Smith can play is expected until Friday or Saturday;
- Chris Horton, who was placed on the season-ending injured-reserve list today, was having surgery to repair ligament damage near his toe today. Reed Doughty will take his place. Zorn said the team would use LaRon Landry a little at strong safety, but not much. Fred Smoot also will continue to play some at safety.
We'll be back to flesh all of this out.

you guys i never posted on here but read it all the time i dont think we can fix everything in one year but maybe get close i think if we would consider signing vick be hind an ok o-line then draft spiller in the first anfter trading our first for a lower first and a third, then pick up o-line with 2nd round. o-line with 3rd, and o-line with 4th then sign 2 olineman in free agency and sign the olb from kansas city (johnson) that should get us somewhere what do you guys think?

if AH got fined, I'd hope that some cats on Atlanta, including their head coach did as well...

What's a terrorist freak? You could call the VT shooter a terrorist. Or, you can call every terrorist deranged. The end result is terrible and the same. And the person who shot and stopped the murderer at Ft Hood was a cop. So I'm not sure what your point is there. Also I never said anything about any kettle being black. Mine is chrome.

hope that would mean both the coaches from Atlanta involved will be getting a fine.
Of course have to remember that in the NFL a HC can break a dudes jaw and abuse women and not hear a word from the league office.

LL should be moved to SS and Moore and Smoot should be used as FS for the remainder of the year. Zorn pull your head out your arse already!

Wow. Better be a fine for Coach Smith of Atlanta too. Dude threw hands [or elbow, as it were] and connected with a player. Watch the Zaprud, uh, the video of DHall's head snapping "back, and to the left...back, and to the left...back, and to the left."

You do realize that "terrorism" in no longer a valid word.
Keep in mind that Obama's cronies at the Ministry of Truth have banished that word from the vocabulary and replaced it with the more suitable term: "man-caused disaster."
Which of course begs the question - "Would those men causing the disasters be the 'terrorist' type?"

What is Landry going to appeal. That he didn't hit him out of bounds. That is another reason that I don't like. Own up to your mistakes.

Why can't Zorn just rule Clinton out for Sunday? Thought players usually missed a game if they suffered a concussion.
Is this just another case of Zorn being afraid to commit to a decision that head coaches usually make?

Redskins 001 - we should know by now that Redskins' players are not accountable for their actions. Landry has gained a well-deserved reputation as a dirty player, not as a Pro Bowl-calibre safety. He's been a huge disappointment the last two years. Even if he is playing out of position, his tackling fundamentals are poor and he gets beat for a TD deep at least once every other game. Don't see the NFL overturning his fine for such a blatant late hit given his history.

Sure.
I make a little joke about Obama, and now I'm an idiot in the Glenn-Beck-mold.
And I guess you are the model of open-minded thoughtfulness that would never rush to pigeon-hole another person's socio-political views...

Webster's defines terrorism as
"the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion"
calling every incident in which a person uses a gun to slaughter innocent people does not quite fit, does it?

Both need to be placed on IR today. Their space should be used to evaluate some other players who can actually practice. Zorn is so slow to make a decisive move. It's really poor team management on his part.

John,
It could and it couldn't. We started convoluting the term Terrorist back in 2002.

That would be an interesting signing, but I'm not sure if he plays strongside or weakside. But I do know the guy has lots of talent and then suddenly seemed to go into the doghouse. I still don't agree on trading down though, if you can get a top notch OT with the first, that's what needs to be done. You can always pick up a good RB in the later rounds. I'd still go with either another OT or QB in the 2nd round.

Really?
I didn't know that using a "1984" reference automatically made someone a Glenn-Beck idiot?
Now that I know how the pigeon-holing works, I'll be more careful in the future.
One question: If I were to use a "1984" reference to criticize George W. Bush, does that also automatically qualify me to be an idiot a-la Glenn Beck?

Trading down would work in at least one scenario. If we have a top 5 pick you can trade down for two late first rounders. If Russel Okung is already taken I'd trade down for 2 later first rounders. I see Russel Okung as the only eilte tackle in this draft. After him there is a dropoff. You can wait and get two good tackles or overpay for 1 good tackle.

When american drones fly over NorthWest belt to thier targets, the children hearing the jet sounds scatter and run off in fear and parents scream and rush to get to thier children - Ask if it terrorizes them?
Other than that, Fire Vinny and Snyder is a scumbag as Riggo says.
