Zorn: Shin Splints Limit Moss; Thrash Out (Updated)
After the first session ended about 30 minutes ago, Jim Zorn spoke with the media and had updates on some injuries. He said that Santana Moss was very limited by shin splints and that James Thrash is out with a neck injury but should be back for the June organized activities. Rocky McIntosh was excused today to attend a funeral and is expected to participate tomorrow.
The next workout is from 3:25 to 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, budding shutterbug Chris Cooley is THGO at twitter.com/thecooleyzone and snapped this nice pic.

Shin Splints are not a big deal Moss, missing this weekend is the least of the worries.

Ugh....Moss is already "slowed". How long does it take for shin splints to go away?

No Frank Hammerhan beat reporter for 980, I've heard him be very critical in the past.

Thomas playing well?
That's great news.
Wilson and Orakpo playing 'backer.
That's great news.
Now all we need to hear is that Fred Davis is awake.

Actually shin splints are more common from working out then not working out. shin splints usually arrive when you spend to much time running on pavement on not soft surfaces. many track runners suffer shin splints when they train off the track (ie, long distances to establish stamina)

Flounder -
Yeah, but aren't shin splints mostly from intense running?

Shin splints means Moss has been doing track-based work.
Let him save his legs. We know what he can do. Thomas needs the reps.

Moss is already hobbled...
It hurts, doesn't it? Can't belieeeve what fell. All your dreams, woop, hops down the *@#*ing drain. Your fate...lies right over there.
Posted by: psps23 | May 1, 2009 1:34 PM | Report abuse
Track work and plyometrics are what a guy like Moss does to maintain flexibility ans speed.
Shin splints are common from that kind of work.
But let him rest. He'll be there. Thomas and the rookie wideouts need the reps in Moss' place.

Cindy,
Any word on Williams is Hammerhan's report accurate, was he out there working with the team?

Oh well, at least it leaves more reps for DT.
If Moss, Kelly, and Thrash are out, does that mean the DJ and our freakishly athletic 7th rounder were working with JC too?

You should have won 6-5 and saved yourself several trips around the diamond. Then you wouldn't feel sore today. You'd feel good. And it would be a good good, not a good sore.

Anyway, I start collecting social security in July and will have drained all the money out of the Trust Fund about the time you show up to claim your pittance. We'll see who's laughing then.

Dude, No one, including JLC gets into the practice. JLC has to ask his usual inside sources, Leigh Torrence and Derrick Frost. This might take a while.

Me, unless your idea of "sitting pretty" is napping on a park bench on the Hahvahd Yahd while you drool on the front of your shirt that says "I'm not mean. I just don't like you."

"Truth,
That crap about the regualr season not meaning anything is BS, who plays a meaningful game week 1 anyway. Almost all of the teams schedule some bum team and beat them by 50.
The regualr season would be more important, because if you don't do really well you don't make the playoffs
Is the NFL regular season any less exciting because they have a playoff.
Posted by: Flounder21 "
1) Plenty of big time games. Last year, Bama Vs. Clemson, this year UGA Vs. Oklahoma State, also games like App State Vs. Michigan, one of the biggest upsets in sports period.
2) See : NCAA Basketball Tournament. Started with 16 teams I believe, now up to 65. It's great for basketball, but not football. It wouldn't stop at 4 playoff teams, or 8, or 16 or whatever yall want.
The BCS needs tweaks, but a playoff system shouldn't be put in place.
Posted by: TheTruth11 | May 1, 2009 2:32 PM | Report abuse
Another note, you think teams don't schedule good OOC games now? Imagine if they knew they could get by without having a strong Strength of Schedule? The BCS pushes teams to improve their SOS, a playoff would push them to schedule even crappier teams.
At the end of the year, when it is down to three teams, the SOS pops up and makes a difference.
Posted by: TheTruth11 | May 1, 2009 2:34 PM | Report abuse
Shin splints aren't a big deal UNLESS you don't let them heal completely before resuming activity.
The question is how did he get them, conditioning for the season or screwin around playin b-ball.
Maybe it's Moss is great and doesn't have to play this weekend, so they make up an injury.
