Laura Bush confirmed what everyone in publishing knew: She's writing a memoir. "I've been talking to some publishers, but nothing has happened yet -- just a few visits," she told the Associated Press yesterday. Bob Barnett (who else, really?) is repping the first lady; no deal expected until next month at the earliest.

Joe the Plumber has answered the call to public service. Joe Wurzelbacher partnered with VelocityStore.com to help Americans make that analog-to-digital television transition. He'll make videos showing how to set up DTV converters and "explain the public safety benefits" of the change. We'll sleep better tonight.
