OPRAH WATCH: Sorry, No More Tickets

(Chris Pizzello -- AP)

Want to watch Oprah tape her inauguration shows at the Kennedy Center next month? Ha! Sorry: You would have had to spend strategic hours monitoring her Web site yesterday morning. Ticket information was posted at 11 a.m., and the passes (which are free) were spoken for by 12:45 p.m. Oprah rep Michelle McIntyre said the show received more than 5,000 requests, more than twice the capacity of the Opera House. Winfrey plans to tape at least two shows there Jan. 19.

I find it very disturbing and untruthful to see this post stating that the tickets for Oprah's inauguration shows at the Kennedy Center were posted at 11:00am on Monday, December 8. I, along with one of my co-workers, checked the site and also called the number listed simultaneously from 11:00am to 1:00pm and kept getting the same message both places. The website was not updated until after 1:30pm. Therefore, I do not know who the tickets were for, but they were NOT opened to the public. I was really interested in getting tickets for my mother, who will be turning 65 in January, but I guess that's a shattered dream.

Oh, please, can't we make Oprah GO AWAY??!! Does the silver lining of having elected Barack Obama our new president come with the black cloud of Oprah hovering around DC for the next four to eight years? Oh, the horror.

kelkel24hotmailcom Maybe they mean 12:45 central time. I agree that no info was on the site until around 1 p.m.

Not true. I got on the site around noon and was able to fill out the request form to get tickets, and sent an e-mail out to several of my friends. One got to fill out the form also, but by the time the others got to the site (after 1 pm) the message stated that they were no longer taking reservations. Given the # of requests they got, I am assuming they are doing some kind of lottery. I have not heard from anyone, but was hoping to see if someone who filled out the form has heard. Hope luck is with me!

I also was able to request tickets on monday. I also called my friends immediately and they were all able to request tickets. i feel bad for those who had issues. I have read that Harpo is calling people today to confirm tickets so stay close to your phone.
