Cheers for Biden at C in C Ball
Our colleague Jackie Trescott reports:
Arriving at 8:50 p.m. to speak to the 2,000 military personnel at the Commander in Chief's Ball at the National Building Museum, Vice President Biden said that it was a "greater honor" to be the father of a son stationed in Iraq than "being the vice president." He was drowned out by cheers.
Biden admitted that he was scared he had to dance in front of a crowd and quickly made the sign of the cross. But before what turned out to be a smooth dance with wife Jill, he welcomed an incoming broadcast from Iraq. Fifteen deployed Americans expressed their congratulations to him, with one saying, "We look forward to whatever you have in store for us."
Biden said he'd head back to Iraq soon. "By the time I get back, we will bring a whole lot of you home," he promised. Again, he was drowned out by applause.
After the dance, it was back to MC George Lopez and singer Jordin Sparks.
