Well, we were wrong: One of the official inaugural balls is going be awesome.
After decades of B-list entertainment at the inaugural balls, the Presidential Inaugural Committee just announced the line-up for the official "The Neighborhood Ball" at the Convention Center: Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Faith Hill, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Shakira and Stevie Wonder, with Nick Cannon (Mr. Mariah) as DJ.
And (squeal alert!) the concert for kids is going to be pretty great, too: The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Bow Wow.
The Obamas came up with the idea of the first-ever "neighborhood" ball---some lucky D.C. folks get to attend---to share the celebration across the country. The ball will be broadcast live Jan. 20 from 8-10 p.m. on ABC, which undoubtedly accounts for the line-up of A-listers.
The kid's concert---hosted by Michelle Obama and Jill Biden---will be held Jan.19 at the Verizon Center and broadcast that night on the Disney Channel.
