Your Questions Answered About Obama's Speech to Congress

Vice President Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi listen as President Obama addresses Congress on Tuesday night. (Pablo Martinez Monsivais-Pool/Getty Images)

What was that shiny spiky thing in front of Nancy Pelosi?

A ceremonial silver inkstand from the early 1800s, believed to be the oldest relic of the House.

Who was she wearing? Looked cozy as sweats, but quite luxe.

How come you people never asked this about Denny Hastert? Okay, okay: Chado Ralph Rucci.

Why did Michelle Obama go sleeveless?

Because she can. She's got the arms for it and doesn't have to walk in the cold much anymore. And you think anyone's going to bug her about Capitol Hill dress codes?

On MSNBC, who was heard uttering "Oh, God" as Bobby Jindal prepared to give the GOP response?

Chris Matthews, who didn't know his mike was on. He explained yesterday on "Hardball" that he was weirded out by the "peculiar stagecraft" of the Louisiana gov's entrance from the end of a narrow hall with a winding staircase, like the president entering the East Room to give a speech, he thought.

And Jindal -- what went wrong?

Hard to say: the rushed delivery, the deer-in-the-headlights eyes, the folksy gestures? Admittedly, it's tough following POTUS. Remember Tim Kaine's outta-control left eyebrow after the 2006 State of the Union?

The body it is a temple that houses an eternal spirit (cf. 1 Cor. 3:16-17). Modest dress serves as a physical and spiritual guard against immoral behavior and its inherent physical, emotional, and spiritual harm. That the negress first lady would appear in public is such form is a telling predicition of the coming woes to our nation.

What is wrong with people! I think Michelle is beautiful and I think anyone who puts her down because of her appearance wish that they could look so polished and put together. Eat your heart out!

Its not that she "doesn't have to walk in the cold". For someone acclimated to Chicago, it just doesn't feel particularly cold. I never wore my winter coat the first few winters after I moved here from the upper Midwest. (Though that has long since changed.)

I see a lot of women in cold weather sleeveless. Not for me. My sister would go out without a coat and I would be bundled in a coat, hat, gloves and scarf.

SavedGirl - St. Matthew 7 1-6 Verse 1. Judge not, that ye be not judged. You should read the whole chapter.

Mrs. Obama is lovely and she definitely has great arms but it's the middle of winter! I think her sleeveless dresses would be better in the summer.

It was the fact that Jindal didn't move his arms when walking. There was a whole SEINFELD episode about a person who didn't move her arms (played by Molly Shannon) and Elaine's attempts to teach her to swing them in opposition to her legs.
