  • Passing the torch: Michael Chertoff and wife Meryl hosted a dinner Sunday at their Potomac home to welcome Janet Napolitano, his successor as Homeland Security secretary. Stephen Breyer, Susan Collins, Greg Craig, Kathy Kemper, Bill Webster, and Salem and Rima al-Sabah were among the very civil, very bipartisan guests.

  • On the heels of our investigation of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher's illegal parking on Capitol Hill -- perfectly legal for members of Congress on official business, it seems -- Roll Call nailed Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton yesterday for doing the same. Her rep explains she's just trying to help assuage the parking crisis: By taking an illegal spot instead of a legal one, she's freeing up one more parking spot for regular citizens. Thanks, ma'am!

  • Rod Blagojevich signed "a six-figure book deal" with Phoenix Books, the independent publisher announced -- so yes, he's set to make in excess of $99,999! His tell-all, "The Governor," is set for an October release.
