"She's great-looking, she has a great personality and she's obviously very bright, but ... something is amiss."

-- Arnold Scaasi telling Women's Wear Daily that Michelle Obama's fashion sense isn't all that. He argues she should have worn a jacket instead of a cardigan to meet the queen. The designer has dressed six first ladies, but (could you guess?) not the current one, whom he says he'd be glad to advise.

Michelle Obama is about as much of a "fashion icon" as is my cat. She is just not a pretty woman nor do her clothes seem to fit her type figure. It is an insult to other First Ladies to constantly slobber over Michelle and act like she is the second coming of Jackie O. I think one Jackie was quite enough.

Michelle Obama is very well dressed. I really like her style and the fact that she wears everything from designers to retail.

I love the fact that she doesn't wear the typical jacketed suited designers that was worn by most of previous first ladies that all looked the same - matronly and not stylish.

Michelle Obama is beautiful and her sense of style is youthful, modern and all her own.

And for people like somberjules, maybe you should worry about yourself and what you have to offer, instead of trying to tear the first lady down. People sure do put their insecurities on full display on the internet.

Arnold Scaasi is a nasty old control queen who has been running a racket for years, taking advantage of fashions challenged ones like Barbara Bush, pictured. He never was all that and he hasn't done anything fresh in 25 years.

He pulls years old samples out of the back, slams some ridiculous price tag on them and then convinces some doddering old broads they are getting classic couture. who could possibly care what she thinks!

People better get with the program! first of all who wants to look like and old lady? because that's precisly what Arnold made the previous first ladies look like with those granny outfits.People think you have to "Suit Up" to look good.Don't think so! Michelle Obama dresses great,With all kinds of mixtures of things. Most good designers know this! Arnold should go to a few more fashion shows, and brush up his skills. Then and now are two different things. And of course he would say stuff about Obama's clothes because he isn't designing them.

"Michelle Obama dresses great, with all kinds of {mixtures of things}...."

LOL.
'Zactly. The latter part of that statement is what's the problem.

Dear ruffian518 and others: I love M. Obama. I really do. The Obamas ROCK.

But um, cardigan to visit the Queen or not, I MUST agree:

something in her style/choices is...amiss.

And I feel like the child shouting out in the crowd in that old story about The Emperor Who Had No Clothes: BUT (S)HE HAS NOTHING ON!!!

sigh.
