The Big-Bucks Club, Working for You

Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, David Rockefeller and several other masters of the universe had a top-secret meeting in New York two weeks ago to discuss social problems in the U.S. and around the world. According to the Chronicle of Philanthropy, the clandestine gathering at Rockefeller University also involved Ted Turner, Warren Buffett, George Soros and Mike Bloomberg -- all in all, a group that has donated $72.5 billion to charities since 1996.

What exactly did the new Illuminati discuss? Sources told the Chronicle the agenda was "how to raise the level of philanthropy in the world." But of course that's what they're going to say. More likely topics of discussion:

  • Conspiring to move us back onto the gold standard.
  • Pondering the latest threat from the armies of Alpha Centauri.
  • Plotting to oust Danny Gokey from "American Idol."
  • Figuring out how to save the newspaper business. Please?

Your story is inaccurate ---chronicle of philanthropy did not break this story it was broken by, a fact the COF, NYT and many others acknowledge.
