Joe Robert (Kevin Clark/The Washington Post)

Just three months after brain surgery, Washington philanthropist-businessman Joe Robert got surprising news last week: His cancerous tumors are gone. In an update, Robert's doctors at NIH called his response to aggressive treatment "absolutely outstanding" and green-lighted him to return to work full time.

NIH is a fantastic research hospital with a lot of outstanding, dedicated workers. This should be encouraging to them and to everyone who has been touched with cancer. Best wishes to Mr. Robert.
