Celeb-vocates!

An occasional look at the army of celeb-vocates marching on our city to call for change of some kind. Yesterday's showbiz soldier: Edie Falco.
Cause: Health Care for America Now rally.
Setting: Several hundred supporters at an outdoor rally on Capitol Hill.
What she wants: For Congress to pass Democratic health-care reform efforts, including coverage for all Americans.
Why her: She doesn't just play a nurse on TV ("Nurse Jackie"); she also survived breast cancer. And in her early acting days, went through periods without insurance. "It's bad enough the emotional impact of not having a job," she told the crowd. "But to get sick on top of that ... figuring out what you're going to do without [insurance] so you can afford a doctor's visit."
Backup: Chuck Schumer, Howard Dean, a phalanx of labor leaders.
How she looked: Pulled-together summer-casual, in a teal sundress.
