Doing Good, Looking Good

An occasional look at the army of celeb-advocates marching on our city. Yesterday's emissary of Hollywood goodness: Julianne Moore.
Cause: Save the Children news conference on disaster readiness in schools and day-care centers.
Site: A Logan Circle day-care center, complete with adorably silent 4-year-olds.
What she wants: A five-point federal plan establishing standards, public education campaigns, etc.
How she looked: Lovely. Black dress, high-heeled Mary Janes, pin-straight hair, perfect skin.
Moment: The actress dropped script and improv'd about how schools should provide their students with laminated emergency-contact cards. "This is really basic, easy stuff. It's amazing there's no standardization."
Quid pro quo: Save the Children's Mark Shriver hosted a D.C. party last night for Moore's new children's book.
