Susan Boyle on the "Britain's Got Talent" final May 30. (Ken McKay / Rex Features)

  • Wardrobe emergency! When Signature Theatre's Maggie Boland realized she would appear onstage during last night's Tony Awards broadcast, college pal Clinton Kelly ("What Not to Wear") raced her to N.Y.C.'s Lord & Taylor for a black, floor-length gown by Adrianna Papell.

  • More retail therapy: British sensation Susan Boyle was spotted shopping one day after she was released from a mental hospital. The runner-up on "Britain's Got Talent" made her first public stop at a boutique in North London on Friday and bought sweaters, dresses and shoes; she looked relaxed and happy, reports British papers.

  • The family of David Carradine has asked the FBI to team with Thai authorities to investigate the cause of the actor's death last week, originally thought to be a suicide. Attorney Mark Geragos said the family acted because of conflicting information about the circumstances and has hired renowned forensics expert Michael Baden.

  • Brooke Shields has prevailed in her fight with the National Enquirer, forcing the tabloid not to run a story about her 75-year-old mother. Teri Shields, who suffers from dementia, was checked out of her nursing home last month by a reporter; the publication also agreed to make a public apology, People reports.
