Trump to Miss California: You're Fired

A month after we thought we'd put the whole Miss California business behind us, Donald Trump fired Carrie Prejean from the job today and replaced her with her runner-up.

Officials from the Miss California USA organization, owned by Trump, told reporters Prejean was being dethroned for "contract violations," i.e., failing to participate in the ribbon cuttings, regional crownings, etc., that are part of her beauty-queenly obligations.

Her first-runner up, Miss Malibu Tami Farrell will take over those responsibilities, the pageant people said.

An anticlimactic sort-of ending to the saga that we all thought had culminated with last month's exciting live televised news conference, in which Trump forgave Prejean for other transgressions (involvement with an advocacy group, semi-nude photos) and stood by her right to speak out against same-sex marriage -- the issue that catapulted her to national fame, after a catfight with gossip-blogger Perez Hilton over her answer in Miss USA pageant (which she lost).

This time, no news conference, no hugs from The Donald. No statement, as of yet, from Prejean -- though Foxnews.com reports the release from her duties will now free her up to write a book.

UPDATE: The conservative National Organization for Marriage, which Prejean made some appearances with after the Perez Hilton uproar, issued these statements in reaction to her dethroning.

"Hollywood hates Carrie. First they abuse her, then they try to get her to recant, then they threw mud, and now they are doing what they wanted to do from day one: Get rid of Carrie. This cover story about a contract dispute doesn't pass the smell test. ... She's a young woman of great beauty who chose truth over the glittering tiara that Hollywood offers," said Brian Brown, Executive Director for NOM.

"Hollywood will dance its tribal war dance over her body... but Carrie will be free to define her own mission and message from now on. Congratulations," said the organization's president Maggie Gallagher.

GOOD. She did NOT represent the state of California, even though she thought she did.

Obviously, beautiful and moral Carrie did not represent the state. CA is a cesspool of freaks, degenerates, homos, illegals, and liberals.

In addition to losing her tiara, Carrie Prejean shouldn't be allowed to keep her fake boobs (financed by the Miss California USA).

Please remember that 500,000 more California voters support marriage between one man and one woman, than those who opposed Prop. 8 in the State. It will be interesting to see if the Washington Post, which supposedly supports freedom of speech, will take on this unfair treatment of a solid and good Amercian. Or, as in the past, support anyone who agrees with the homosexual agenda and attacks anyone who does not. It is interesting why the homosexual member of the Miss USA contest asked the question in the first place? A hidden agenda? The new Miss California now says what the far left, who lost Prop 8 at the ballot box and the State Supreme Court, demand she state with their intolerance and bigotry.

". . . the release from her duties will now free her up to write a book." Carrie Prejean can READ AND WRITE?? Way to bury the lede, Sourcettes.

Why does the Right need to canonize these semi-literate beauty queens who support one or more of its favorite litmus tests? A la Sarah Palin.

Everything else is forgiven regardless of how hypocritical.

Exactly. Prejean's only mistake was associating with them.

It is not about canonizing her. It is about her right to her opinion, without being vilified for saying something that has been a standard defiintion of marriage for thousands of years and what the majority of voters in her home State of California agreed with. It is the hate and vitriol by such radical left persons as the Miss USA judge, that knowingly inserted his personal and politcal view into a question to her and then made sure she lost the contest. Afterwards, he attacked her with bigoted, hateful and intolerant viciousness. THAT is the issue.

Is "dethroning" anything like "deflowering"?

Posted by: kjohnson3 | June 10, 2009 6:32 PM | Report abuse

Even though the wording was like a blustery day someone spoke out against same sex marriage. Politics have been partnering with Hollywood and anything to do with left-wing beauty contests for power. If an American girl or woman wants to stand against gay relationships and marriages [not gays as individuals]in this country then she had better make the decision not to enter these contests. We all know the direction this country is going. The few are going to get trampled on by the majority. Homosexuality will take over our military and break down strength and readiness and our civilian structure of power will crumble us as a nation. And the person leading the way has been Ellen. Laughter disguises things that are extremely dangerous. And to which it needs to be paid attention.

At this point, I seriously doubt she cares. Carrie Prejean will land on her feet. Girls that look as good as she does almost always do. Bet Miss North Carolina, Kristen Dunst, who actually won Miss USA, wishes that Perez Hilton had asked her that question. Prejean is now a household name and will get her own TV show, while Dunst is pinning blue ribbons on prized heifers at county fairs. As PT Barnum said, "Any publicity is good publicity". Remember, Vanessa Williams was stripped of her crown and she went on to have a fine career. So will Carrie. Nicely done there, Perez Hilton, you just made Carrie Prejean's career.

Posted by: lure1 | June 10, 2009 7:19 PM | Report abuse

Vanessa Williams has talent and she didn't go around trying to get publicity.

So Carrie got her breast implants and her platform and new martyr-hood. Sounds like she made off quite well in this last pageant.

She's probably being used by the idiots at N.O.M., but maybe it's mutual.

Posted by: sarahabc | June 10, 2009 8:56 PM | Report abuse

Oh please Louise.
Those of us in the military all know people we serve with who are gay. It just seems like such a waste of training, talent, and resources to drum somebody out over a (usually) well-known fact. It already makes us weaker (re: losing well-trained Arabic linguists).
I think Carrie's allowed to her opinion, but re free speech-well, Ms. America is a pageant sponsored by Trump. I don't think we should fire someone if they end up in photos online, either. Unfortunately, Mr. Trump runs the (sponsored by him) show.

It is truly unfortunate that the radical left, liberals and Democrats have no respect for, or tolerance of, any freedom of speech expressions that are not the same as their views. The unintended consequence of deviant sexual behavior by any hetersexual or homosexual is that it is a costly behavior that should not have to be condoned or encouraged, no matter who the perverted sexual is performed by. It is quite clear that none of the hateful bloggers towards Ms. Prejean are unable/unwilling to prove this truth otherwise. So instead they have to make hateful, intolerant and bigoted personal comments about her. Oh well.

Posted by: rljmsilver | June 10, 2009 10:03 PM | Report abuse

Good bye and good riddance. She has all the right to say whatever she wants. We also have the right to call her whatever we please. In this case, fired and never to be heard from again.........I hope. Maybe she can go commiserate with Speidi.

The following observations are my take on a few of the issues present in this ongoing but innocuous conflagration involving the suddenly astounding professionalism of Carrie Prejean who we mistakenly took previously as a babbling fool.Beauty pageants today are the weak sisters of the glorious and spellbinding days of Atlantic City events. This is the Electronic Age, we are all on Twitter and blogging and a lot of Americans are out of work. Ms. Prejean, I assure you as a man who has known the distaff (how long has it been that you have heard that one) side for a long time is a professional model. People do not realize that modeling is a business and models are very often adept at making a lot of money as enterprising and entrepreneurial success stories ie. Cindy Crawford and Lauren Hutton. Finally, Donald Trump is a quintessential industrialist but certainly should not be on television because this is a leave unto Caesar what is Caesar's issue and a Jackie Gleason he is not. Carrie is going to go over the wall and make a wheelbarrow full of money because I think that she is a smart cookie and that is the destiny that is most probable for her.

A note to those knocking Prejean:

You sorry excuses for human beings need to crawl under a rock. Your type is what's wrong with the country.

Such it is to all those who oppose same sex "marriage". Abandon all your personal values, and Hollywood will be your "best friend". Hold on to them, and they'll rip you apart. It's obvious who they were looking for, another pretty face to promote the militant agenda of a special interest group. She said no so they fired her. The majority of American citizens and Californians oppose same sex "marriage". Not all the fame or money or propaganda in the world will change that.
