Kate (Minus Eight), Possibly on the Move

UPDATED, Thursday, 2:45 p.m.

Question of the day: Is Kate Gosselin really moving to Rockville?

Answer: Um ... maybe? reported late Tuesday, with no attribution, that the reality TV star is "buying a condo" at Rockville Town Center. Same place our spies spotted her lunching this month, and where Us claimed she checked out apartments (presumably as a solo getaway for when estranged husband Jon visits the kids in Pennsylvania).

Asked about the real estate rumors, her basic-cable bosses at TLC issued a no-comment. Her bodyguard, who works in Rockville, did not return calls. Sales agents, typically sworn to secrecy about clients, won't confirm or deny.

If she actually already bought a condo -- Radar didn't say -- the papers haven't yet made their way to county offices. That's assuming she bought in her own name, not a privacy-protecting blind trust. So unless you've got the paparazzi-pursued mom of eight on speed dial, it's impossible to verify.

Do we trust the source? Radar covers the Gosselin clan 24/7, with a sympathetic slant to Kate. However: More established celeb sites -- People, Us, TMZ, which track the Gosselins just as closely -- had not, by Wednesday night, picked up the story or deigned to debunk it.

UPDATE: On Thursday afternoon, People finally weighed in with a strong denial, saying a source close to Kate Gosselin insists she would never move that far from her kids. "She is not buying or renting in the area," People's unnamed (yes, again) source tells the magazine. "Kate was having lunch there, and after spending a total of one hour in a restaurant that has condos for sale above it, a rumor began that somehow, suddenly, she was buying a condo there. She didn't even know there were apartments for sale there. It's totally false."

UPDATED again: Minutes later, RadarOnline claimed that Kate G. "changed her mind" and is not buying a Rockville pad. Sorry!

No matter who I talk to at work, amongst friends, etc, they have all heard of these people but no one I know, not one single solitary person, has ever seen their show or knows definitively what their show is about other than the title. Really, I get it that they're famous for being famous, but I have yet to meet even one single person who has seen their show.
