Not a Morning Person, Are You, Levi?

Levi speaks! Again. Days after telling the Associated Press he believes his ex-girlfriend's mom, Sarah Palin, resigned as Alaska governor because she wants to make more money, the would-be prince of Wasilla yesterday gave an "exclusive" interview to NBC's "Today" to shed more light on this matter. Or less.

Why exactly, began Ann Curry, wasn't he surprised that she stepped down?

"Well, you know, living there, there's been a few times, you know, after, even before, you know, she's talking about, you know ..." Levi Johnston began, by way of warming up to the heart of things: "It's a very stressful job."

Hmm. Okay, so he's 19. Small-town guy. Not the best talker. And yet as Curry promised, he's "one of the few people who can give us a rare glimpse" into his son's grandmother's overnight trajectory to national candidate and return to Alaska. So, come on, Levi, we're listening ...

"There's been talk about how it would be nice to take the money and run." Like, for a reality show? "There's been talk about it, yeah." And Palin stood to make a lot of money from a book -- like, how much? Curry asked. "I've heard anywhere from 7 to 9 million."

Well, what do you know. We heard that, too! It was on a lot of talk shows and blogs. Months ago.

If it was beginning to sound like this insider didn't have so much insight after all, maybe it was because, as Johnston confided a few minutes later, "I haven't seen Sarah in a couple months." He refused to reiterate his original claims that she resigned for money: "I'm sure there's multiple reasons for what she's got going on."

Okay, so let's face it: He's got nothing, really, bless his heart. But we know why he's talking (to Tyra Banks; to GQ, which photographed him shirtless). He's looking for that second act.

"Movies, reality shows, you name it. ... That's definitely an option," he told Curry. His Anchorage-based lawyer and manager did not return our calls yesterday.

The question is, why does anyone still book him?

It's a good thing he's cute.

Has Ann Curry completely lost her journalistic integrity? Perhaps someone is punishing her with assignments like the Levi Johnson interview.Regardless, "...why does anyone still book him?" is a question that begs an answer. And -- sorry, Reliable Source -- he's NOT cute. He's pathetic.

It took the "Post" this long to figure out that "he's got nothing"? Some of us could've told you that ages ago.

You said Ann Curry and journalistic integrity in the same sentence.
