Details: With his wife and kids not yet moved down from New York, the new Treasury secretary has been crashing at the six-bedroom Kalorama mansion of his old pal Daniel Zelikow, reports our colleague Mary Ann Akers. Geithner and Zelikow met as Dartmouth freshmen; Zelikow made big bucks on Wall Street before moving to D.C. as executive VP of the Inter-American Development Bank. Now he's hosting his lesser-paid friend in grand style at his $3.6 million home (library, three parking spots, pool, solarium). Geithner's people said they contacted the ethics counsel to clear the arrangement, which Zelikow declined to discuss. "That's why he's living with me," he told Akers.
