Quoted: Levi Johnston Questions Palin's Hunting Cred

Alaska teen has more choice words for ex-girlfriend's mom (AP Photo/Matt Sayles)

"She says she goes hunting and lives off animal meat -- I've never seen it. I've never seen her touch a fishing pole. She had a gun in her bedroom and one day she asked me to show her how to shoot it. I asked her what kind of gun it was, and she said she didn't know, because it was in a box under her bed."

-- Levi Johnston in his most withering attack thus far on his ex-girlfriend's mom, in a new Vanity Fair story that marks his journalism debut. Also claims: Sarah and Todd Palin fought a lot; they offered to adopt his baby with Bristol; and the kids did all the cooking in the Palin house, or occasionally went to fetch food for the Alaska governor, "like a Crunchwrap Supreme from Taco Bell."

Palin's a dirtbag in heels. I truly hope she vanishes from the political scene back into the grime she came from.

No one with IQ over 72 would believe anything Levi has to say. The boy is a high school drop out and we have heard of the Gov's chef and her idea to cut that expense from the state budget......Levi is a fool!

It seems to me he is out to make a name for himself at the expense of others, what kind of parenting did it take for him to turn out like that?

The only reason Levi Johnston even exists as a media personality is because the Liberal media values him as a weapon they can wield against the Palin family.
It's really pretty disgusting to see the depths the depraved Liberal media will drop to in order to attack the Palins.
Has the Liberal media ever used an ex-boyfriend of a politician's child before to attack that politician? This must be a new precedent they are setting.
If the positions were somehow reversed and this Levi Johnston loser was dishing dirt on the Obama family, you can bet your house the Liberal media would have investigated him and printed all the dirt they could find on him to shut him up and ruin him. But that's not the case so they give him a platform, as if being a backstabbing loudmouth is some kind of a virtue.
This is why taken as a whole, the Liberal media is dying. They no longer report the news straight and have lost all their credibility. The bias is so overwhelming that it cannot be ignored.

I too was not fooled. I actually grew up in Alaska, one of 7 children that HAD to eat game meat. Moose-a-roni and Caribou sausage mostly. And lots of salmon. You don't do it unless you have too. A Moose rump steak is a long way from beef. Anyway, she is a fraud, like many that come to Alaska as the end of the road.

Based on any speech I've heard from Palin, I still can't understand how anybody in their right mind could find her to be a valid candidate for VP. This is not an attack on the woman, just a simple question could somebody from the "right" explain to me what value can be found in anything she's said. For example her speech when she quit as governor....I mean this thing was a butchered medley of incoherent words with absolutely no point. Much like the Katie Couric interview, her debates, her knowledge of world geography....the facts are right there in front of you. I would like to start a civil discourse if anyone is interested...please stay on topic, and avoid the words liberal media if at all possible. The words out of her mouth have nothing to do with liberal media.

The only reason Joe the Plumber even exists as a media personality is because the Right wing media values him as a weapon they can wield against Obama. Sound familiar?

Tell you what, I would put more faith into what someone that has actually been inside the Palin home has to say than someone from Fox that is handed a scripted interview.

To say the media is using this is really distorting the truth much the same way Dick Cheney is trying to distort the truth about torture and who really called the shots. I'm guessing he is really pissed because for one he has always thought of himself as being above the law, untouchable. Nothing he did made this a better world or a safer America.

Palin sure strikes most as a money hungry woman with no agenda. Yes you can kick the 19 year old kid around for being a drop out, but that doesn't mean he isn't credible in what he is saying. Our own police forces use the testimony of convicted felons to put others in jail, and we should believe any of them? Oh, I forgot, we choose to believe and disbelieve when it's convenient, we don't really stand or have any convictions now do we?

After years of Regan, Bush 41, and Bush 43 spending Republicans are now the fiscal hawks of this country, I don't think so. It must really hurt when someone that has credibility comes forward and scraps the varnish off your Goddess.

Maybe when the Republicans step up to the plate and work constructively to help this country instead of being the party of "no" you might start winning some elections.

Of course I can only hope that Cheney and Rush head off on a little hunting and drinking trip and see who gets shot this time. Oh, I forget, Rush isn't into drinking, it's the Oxycontin thing right?

She really must be a nobody when the Washington Posts own spell checker doesn't even recognize her name..

Am I the only one who finds it kind of ironic that a section titled "Reliable Sources" runs a piece based on stories by the ex-boyfriend of a politician's kid?

Was it not just late last year when the left slammed this guy as "some Alaska redneck?" Now he is being embraced as a solid and credible source.

I'm saying this as someone who thinks Palin was a disasterous VP choice and should never be president. But at least my beliefs there are based on my judgment of her own words and actions. The media taking these unsubstantiated stories and running with them is embarrassing.

*psst...your partisanship is showing*

Stop calling people "hillbillies" and "rednecks." Show some of the same class we'd like to see on the other side. That said, it's good to see another part of the Palin chintz flake off. The carefully crafted image of the wilderness uber-mom was just that.

Posted by: angriestdogintheworld | September 2, 2009 3:16 PM | Report abuse

You don't have to worry about Palin running for President. The "hit" job from all sources have made her unelectable. The media and others are waiting for the next Republican presidential hopeful to demonize while slim bags like Bill Clinton, Spitzer and Edwards go on with their careers without a scratch. Spitzer lands a college teaching job. Plenty of young co-eds to conquer at this gig. Yes, the Repubs have their fallen ones like the Gov of SC, but when a Repub falls from grace, the unfortunate one is hammered by the press and liberals. Definitely a double standard.

Posted by: saelij | September 2, 2009 3:17 PM | Report abuse

How much Vanity Fair paid is really not the point. Would you than question every article in every magazine and consider how much the individual was paid? I'll bet they paid a whole lot less than they would have for the exclusive pictures of some famous celebs baby photo's.

The fact that "Joe the Plumber" has a book deal, the fact that some bimbo that just had eight kids now has her own "reality" show is just an indication of whats wrong with this country.

Every time she opened her mouth it was nothing but garbage that came out, most of the time she had no idea of the subject matter. I can think of only one thing that mouth would be good for.

What a poor standard for an aspirational politician, that she knows "guns" or really "fishes". This person lost all credibility when she destroyed any chance her party had of retaining the presidency by opening her mouth and firmly placing her foot in it. Credibility? You must be joking!

Posted by: icurhuman2 | September 2, 2009 3:24 PM | Report abuse

me8980109 - Be 100% honest with yourself...if these were stories told by one of Chelsea Clinton's ex-boyfriends about Hillary and Bill, would you be so quick to embrace it as the undeniable truth? On the contrary, you'd probably be (rightfully) criticizing the inevitable chorus from the right that would champion the guy as some sort of truth-teller. THAT is what's wrong with the country. We're so quick to embrace and defend anything, no matter how exaggerated or specious, as long as it conforms to our already-established beliefs.

It's the media's job to actually vet this information, not parrot it.

I disagree. I think the only reason Levi Johnston even exists as a media personality is because he knocked up Governor Abstinence's daughter & the now former governor dragged him to St Paul for the wholesome-family photo-op.

Posted by: gmcduluth | September 2, 2009 3:32 PM | Report abuse

saelij, your perception that Democrats enjoy some advantage with scandal doesn't seem borne out by the facts. Clinton maybe, but you have to admit the guy was elected POTUS twice by the American people, both long after similar behavior came to light. Edwards is nowhere, and Spitzer's drop from guv to prof seems pretty steep to me. By contrast, Vitter is running for re-election and neither Craig nor Sanford nor Ensign were willing to resign. I think the key point may be that scandal is just scandal, but hypocrisy is big news. It's when your words don't match your actions that the press smells blood. Edwards fell hard because he and his wife used their allegedly strong marriage as part of his image. Spitzer was a scold caught with his pants down. The Republicans, often the very same Elmer Gantrys that frothed at the mouth about Clinton, were revealed as very different from the sanctimonius values imagery they beat over the heads of the rest of us. You see where I am going with this? Palin's image of, and self-identification with, wilderness living and "authentic" American communities makes it irresistable to not notice when someone reveals it was stagecraft. This is hardly a conspiracy to me. If you don't want people to notice the very human foibles of your politicians, maybe they shouldn't hold themselves out as more moral than the rest of us? Ya think?

Posted by: Bob22003 | September 2, 2009 4:08 PM | Report abuse

Pike4, the truth is I don't trust any news coverage as being truthful. Every single one has it's own slant and bias. Trouble is, when dirt falls on one of your scumbags you want to blame the media or the kid that never finished high school like so many other kids in this country.

I find it amusing how people with such bias sit and preach what they want to believe as the truth and simply ignore the facts.

I ran a poll of co-workers the other day asking them which networks they believed covered the news fairly. I simply asked is CNN pro-democrat, independent, or pro-republican? I asked the same of the other news outlets.

I personally believe that CNN is pro-democrat, FOX pro-republican, and MSNBC to have a democratic lean. We also covered the prime time coverage.

Most people easily identified with with what my perceived beliefs are, but again most were independents or democrats but they all said about the same thing. Most people can easily see the strong bias by the media. One woman that is strongly Republican immediately said CNN is very bias towards the Democrats, and that FOX was the only independent news agency. i laughed at her ignorance.

See the trouble in this country with the republican party is if your not with us your against us. When it comes to religion it's the same, all those atheists are truly evil people and like Stalin or Hitler are simply bad people. Yet the well educated people of this world, truly well educated not simply elected officials with an agenda find so little truth in the whole religion thing as to not believe. Educated people believe in science and factual information, and are also willing to reverse course and admit when they got something wrong, when was the last time the church admitted to anything being wrong or incorrect? Faith! You just have to believe. More people have died in the name of religion than in the name of atheism.

Of course this die-hard Republican co-worker would like me to believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old and man walked around with dinosaurs, and that the end is near so convert or you will never be saved. Should I really believe that if their is a God, and he is so perfect he allows only a few of a particular belief to be saved and the others that have some other religion will all perish?

We don't live in caves any more, we know more now than we ever did, and their is no longer any reason to worship Gods of any sort. That worked in the day when we couldn't explain an eclipse or other natural phenomena but those days are long gone. We don't have to sacrifice our children to ensure the next crop is good.

Keep the faith but just remember that in the end it didn't give you any better existence than the next person. Religion doesn't breed morals either, simply look at the church and witness the evil they have done to children over the years. The only thing that keeps individuals honest is the fear of prosecution or punishment.

Those who keep harping on the "liberal media" puhleeeeeese let it go. Have you listened to talk radio, read any of the Murdoch papers, etc? It's not liberal by a long shot. And if it were, since the definition of liberal is "open-minded or tolerant, esp. free of or not bound by traditional or conventional ideas, values, etc." I wouldn't object. It seems like you all just like bashing people. So, if Levi here is telling the truth, your response is to bash him. Kinda like Sarah Palin herself - the supreme hatemonger. Truth be damned. Tolerance be damned. Christianity be damned. All in the name of what? So you can feel better by bashing other people? I'm glad this young gentleman stood up to the hypocrisy. And I give him credit for trying to tell his truth against pretty big odds. And if he is just grandstanding for the buck, well, then he and Sarah have alot in common. Billy Graham has ministered to every president in office dating back to the 50's(Pre-Obama) and there was only one President who actually did not stray! They used to have mistresses living right in the White House at one point!

In the winter of 1971 George W. Bush was dating a woman named Robin Lowman (now Robin Garner). Miss Lowman became pregnant by Smirk and he arranged for her to have an abortion - which in the great state of Texas in 1971 was very illegal! Not to mention that George W.Bush ran as a pro-life candidate for the presidency.

I am a liberal, and am not ashamed to say so. I live in Alaska...but am not impressed with Sarah. I understand how the right wing of the Republican party has a love affair with her, but I believe she shot herself in the foot when she resigned. She cannot now get elected to the Presidency because most americans won't vote for a quitter. And no matter how she spins it, that is how she will be seen from now on. Forever.

However, she scares the hell out of me, and so I would like to see her shoot herself in the other foot. Then stick both feet into her mouth. She could be metaphorically dead and spread across all the continents in little tiny pieces and I fear she would somehow manage to crawl back together and run for President. I thought Nixon was politically dead a bunch of times, but he came back. And Reagan, too. So no one who is as scary politically as Sarah is can be too politically dead for me.

I believe the Republicans will be too smart to nominate Sarah, but I could be wrong. They might nominate her, and if they do, she will lose in a landslide bigger than McGovern. And maybe cause the end of the Republican Party. Which might be a good thing, but Palin scares me so much that I would gladly give up that possibility to ensure Palin will never have any chance of ever being President of the U.S.

Soooooooooo, I want Levi to be telling the truth, and have no problem believeing him. That he is using his 15 minutes of fame to further his career is not shameful. Would anyone close to any of your families have to lie to come up with embarassing incidents? No, I thought not.

I admit it... I LOVE this kind of dirt. This is really good stuff, clear down to the kind of taco the ex-gov munches. It should be pretty obvious to most by now that Sarah was all show, no go. Not really a hockey mom, not really a hunter... it all just made her LOOK good to say she did all that. Where are the pictures proving she's as tough as she says she is? And... where's the picture of her dressed up as Tina Fey at a Halloween party? Non-existent, of course... she made up that story, too. She is really nothing but a sad little girl with poor self-esteem. In the right place at the right time; nothing more than a con job... her true colors are showing more and more; dangerously ignorant and uneducated, does not belong in a leadership role.

Looks like the Brits are one up on the WaPo.

lucky dick cheney! having a lesbian daughter spares him from having a would-be son-in-law who can't keep his stupid mouth shut.

This is all about his self promotion. By his own admission trying to start an acting career. What better way to get in with liberal Hollywood than trash an ultra conservative? If the teenage mother were lets say one of Al Gore's daughters do you think he would have been invited to appear on TV and various award shows? Levi- a real man would only be thinking about what's best for his son no matter what his issues with the grandparents are. What ever happened to taking the high road?

Despite Levi being a scumbag, it's only right that Palin should reap at least a smidgen of what she sows.

Lets see, taco bell, a fishing pole and a gun in a box under the bed..

This is the best we can do for news??..I think we have whipped on the palin horse long enough, either it's a slow month, or media reporters are getting to lazy to find real news,

No one with IQ over 72 would believe anything Palin has to say. The woman is a ditz! Best that she quit and spared the citizens of Alaska.

This article is a terrific example of why much of the mainstream media (washington post and vanity fair) are LOSING a lot of subscriptions. They have become tabloids and propaganda machines. I am a liberal, and even I know that Levi is being paid well for anything negative he can exaggerate or manufacture about Sarah Palin. What happened to news? and reporters? In the past year - I, and many friends, family members and colleagues have canceled subscriptions and stopped watching most news programs. The media is committing suicide. The only readers left are either so partisan that they want this stuff - true or not, or just too dumb to do any thoughtful analysis of anything they read.

And the Left's two-minute hate is once against directed at Sarah Palin, giving Michelle Bachman, Carrie Prejean, and Ann Coulter a break for a couple of days.

Hate away!

At least Palin never left anyone to drown in a car she'd driven off a bridge, eh?

And I don't know anyonwe else who did either for a fact as I wasn't there. It IS safe to say that Palin DID set the trend for schoolgirls to get pregnant while still in school, not get married then live off of WElFARE for 18 yrs. It is safe to say that Bacmann from Minnesota is a complete lunatic inciting damagedd minds to "Lock and load" to avoid the census which by way is illegal, wanted to revert back to McCarthism and is now encouraging people to "slit their wrists". I live near her district and know the caliber of people who live there. Her constituents are so gullable/vulnerable that they WILL indeed do what she tells them! Like Jim Jones! MICHELE BACHMANN IS MINNESOTA'S JIM JONES!

Again and again Rush Limbaugh's choice for VP is being shown for what she is. If the Republican Party is going to make a comeback, they need to lose her and Rush.

Are you seriously referring to Levi Johnston as a journalist? WTF happened to the Washington Post, it used to be a great newspaper, now you consider any boob who can string a couple of words together a journalist. For starters, Levi undoubtedly didn't write this story, and secondly, writing memoir-tell-all tale is not journalism.

Please stop destroying the meaning journalism. Just stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

Palin in 2012! Because Bush just wasn't stupid enough for the average Republican.

Why is everyone so 'fired up' over this ridiculous bunch of sub-standard people?
Have we finally run out of abysmally worthless individuals to bolster trash TV shows? Personally, I find the whole Palin tribe hysterically funny. I can't wait for the next episode. How about we next find out just whose genetic make up produced the retarded child? There's a show for you. What's interesting about Palin's abrupt resignation from the governor's office, is it possible someone has the goods on her for something unrelated to what we already know? Stay tuned, this is getting funnier every day.
