Split: Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who called off their eight-month engagement, reports E! Online. The sexy "Dancing With the Stars" pros, who headlined Broadway's dance revue "Burn the Floor" last month, will both continue their gigs on "DWTS's" upcoming season.

Going public: George Clooney, who unveiled his latest love, Elisabetta Canalis, Monday at the Venice Film Festival, where he's promoting his new film, "The Men Who Stare at Goats." The Italian TV host, 30, walked down the red carpet with Clooney, 48 -- which means it's serious, for the moment.
