Surreal Estate
Fred Smoot (Toni L. Sandys/The Washington Post)
Seller: Fred Smoot
Asking price: $1.695 million
Details: The Redskins defensive back paid $1.65 million for his Great Falls mansion in 2007, but now, says his real estate agent, "he's downsizing." Guess a 30-year-old single guy doesn't really need 7,000 square feet (four bedrooms, four fireplaces, four-car garage) -- though judging by the video tour he gave our colleague Dan Steinberg last year, he sure liked it. Smoot showed off a hot-tub room with monogrammed walls and a cavernous great room: "I call it the Fred room. Everybody's got to have their big-boss room you look in and feel like you achieved something."
