  • Chris Brown began serving 1,400 hours of community service Wednesday by picking up trash near Richmond. The work is part of his sentence for his assault on Rihanna earlier this year; the singer, wearing a reflective vest and a red cap, will also remove graffiti, wash police cars and clean grounds.

  • Smackdown! Linda McMahon, CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, resigned Wednesday to begin a run against Chris Dodd next year for the Connecticut senator's seat. Rich and well known in her home state, the wife of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will run as a Republican.

  • Burt Reynolds has checked himself into rehab for an addiction to painkillers. His rep said Wednesday that the actor, 73, recently had back surgery and entered a facility in West Palm Beach, Fla., after realizing "he was in the prison of prescription pain pills."
