The Obamas Throw a 'Secret' Party

Sasha Obama chats with agents on a campaign stop last fall. (Linda Davidson/The Washington Post)

The safest place in Washington last Friday night? The White House South Lawn, where the president and first lady hosted 150 Secret Service agents and their families for a BBQ dinner -- the first event dedicated to the White House security detail. The Obamas invited every agent assigned to protect POTUS, FLOTUS, Malia or Sasha: The family (including first grandma Marian Robinson) mingled and ate hot dogs, burgers, grilled chicken and ice cream sundaes. And yes, those dog-shaped cookies were for Bo's birthday -- the first pooch turned 1 Friday.
