Legislative huddle

Reps. Heath Shuler, Paul Ryan and John Boccieri at Tuesday night's Congressional football game. (Chris Matthews/VOX Global)

It was a victory for the legislative process, or something like that, as congressmen beat the Capitol Police in the annual Congressional Football Game at the D.C. Armory Tuesday night. Big bosses in the house: Nancy Pelosi, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The reps (aided by former NFL pros -- is that fair?) won 32-26 in overtime with a touchdown pass from a former Redskin, Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C.), to a former Eagle, John Booty -- heh heh, kind of like how Jason Campbell threw that intercepted pass that the Eagles ran in for a touchdown Monday night. Quipped Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.): "It's great to have the two best teams Washington has to offer playing here tonight."
