This Just In . . .

  • Howard University will announce Friday that D.C.'s own Taraji P. Henson will serve as homecoming grand marshal on Oct. 24. The school always gets Hollywood glitz to do homecoming honors (Terrence Howard, Ice Cube); this year they've snagged an actual alum (BFA '95) having a very hot year (Oscar nod for "Benjamin Button," big hit with "I Can Do Bad All by Myself").
  • So, James Franco, hottest of hot young actors, multiple hit movies, indie cred, awards -- why is he taking a two-month role on "General Hospital"? He'll play a mysterious stranger starting Nov. 20, producers told the Associated Press. Must be doing it ironically.
  • That Kanye West and Lady Gaga Fame Kills Tour? Canceled before it even began, including the Dec. 30 show at Verizon Center. No reason given.
