Roman Polanski is stuck in jail for the time being. On Tuesday, the Swiss Justice Ministry ruled that the 76-year-old director is a flight risk (ya think?) and should remain in prison pending extradition to the United States for having sex with a minor. Polanski was arrested Sept. 26 in Zurich; U.S. prosecutors have 60 days to file a formal request to bring him to this country.

Although the case continues to generate heated debate in Europe, a spokesperson for the Swiss Embassy here in Washington told us it has received only a "dozen or two" e-mails about Polanski's arrest: "Some for and some against."

Mel Gibson's 2006 drunk-driving arrest and conviction -- you know, the one with the infamous anti-Semitic rant -- has been erased from his criminal record. A California judge cleared him Tuesday after the first-time offender completed probation.

Wow, that was exactly my reaction. Despite the flawless "caps", the booze, the guilt about peddling his ass to movie industry Queen's in his salad days, the self righteous pomposity, extreme sun damage, and the aging process have all combined to make him look really, realy bad. He looks like Satan.
