Did Anna Nicole Smith try to have her ex-son-in-law offed? FBI files obtained by the Associated Press show that agents investigated the late starlet/model back in 2000 and 2001 regarding a possible murder-for-hire plot -- but prosecutors didn't find enough evidence to pursue it. The intrigue began when Smith was wrangling with E. Pierce Marshall over the estate of his father, J. Howard Marshall II, the 89-year-old oil millionaire she married in 1994. (He died about a year later.) The heavily redacted files don't show what evidence put agents on her trail. When questioned, "Smith began crying and denied ever making such plans," a report said. Federal prosecutors declined to comment to the AP Wednesday -- and of course, everyone's dead now. The younger Marshall passed away in 2006, and Smith died in '07 of a drug overdose. But their battle over the estate carries on.
It's official: Levi Johnston is picking up another paycheck -- this time by posing nude for Playgirl. His lawyer told reporters Wednesday night there's no formal deal with the now-online-only mag, but it's a "foregone conclusion."
