This just in: Bruce Springsteen, Bernie Madoff
The Boss at the Palace of Auburn Hills Friday night. That's in Michigan! (Ricardo Thomas/AP)

You know you've been on tour too long when you throw shout-outs to the wrong state. "Hello, Ohio!" Bruce Springsteen yelled several times Friday night to fans at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Which happens to be . . . in Michigan. The Boss finally realized his mistake when E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt whispered in his ear. "That's every frontman's nightmare," an embarrassed Springsteen told the crowd.

Who wants a piece of Bernie Madoff? Lots of people. Saturday's New York auction of the convicted con man's estate raised more than $900,000 -- twice the estimate. His blue satin Mets jacket with "Madoff" on the back, estimated at $720, sold for a whopping $14,500; his wife's 14-carat diamond earrings, valued at $21,400, fetched $70,000; and someone paid $2,200 for his black leather Mont Blanc wallet. Proceeds went to the Justice Department fund for Madoff's victims.
