Kate Winslet (Reuters/Lucas Jackson)

  • Kate Winslet won $40,000 in damages Tuesday from a British newspaper that claimed she was lying about her exercise routine. In January, the Oscar winner gave reporters the old I'm really not working out at all line; the Daily Mail ran a story saying Winslet had to be hiding the truth to look that good -- and the actress sued. "I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy," she said in a statement.
