PETA and Christian Serratos: Naked snow bunnies
You're in the middle of a record blizzard. What do you do?
If you're a passionate supporter of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, you take off your clothes and frolic in the snow, much to the surprise of three snowplow drivers passing by.
That was the scene on M Street on Saturday afternoon, when animal-rights activist Michelle Cho stripped down to a G-string and -- accompanied by an underwear-clad Jack Ryan and "New Moon" actress Christian Serratos -- took the group's message back to the (very cold) streets. "It was a very nipply day in Georgetown," quipped PETA veep Dan Mathews.
About 50 people braved the snowstorm to attend the opening of "Naked Ambition: 20 Years of PETA's Sexy Celebrity Ads" at Govinda's pop-up gallery on 33rd and M Street. The show features photos of Kim Basinger, Christy Turlington, Pamela Anderson, Tyra Banks and Dennis Rodman in the now-famous "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign, including the newest ad from 19-year-old Serratos, who plays Angela Weber in the sexy "Twilight" vampire movies.
The California native flew in Friday and told us the snowstorm wasn't going to stop her: "It will ruin everything but PETA's determination." At some point during the party, Cho decided it would be fun to go outside naked and grabbed one of the ads off the wall, with Serratos and Ryan close behind. "The snowplows almost drove into the cars," said Govinda owner Chris Murray.
Um . . . we couldn't help but notice that the young actress kept her clothes on. What's that about? "She wanted to go naked, too, but her mother wouldn't let her," explained Mathews.
