This Just In: Alexa Ray Joel recovers in NYC hospital

The daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley was hospitalized in N.Y.C. Saturday afternoon after taking an overdose of pills, the Associated Press and New York Times reported, citing law enforcement sources. Like her dad, Alexa Ray Joel is a singer-songwriter. He told Newsday on Saturday night that he was shaken but that his daughter, 23, was never in danger, having gotten medical care quickly. "She is stable, and her doctors are assessing her needs," a rep told reporters.
