Warren Beatty biographer's fuzzy math
Veteran film writer Peter Biskind made headlines with a claim that Warren Beatty slept with 13,000 women in his long romantic tear through Hollywood. Well, approximately 12,775. Or so Biskind writes in a new bio ("Star: How Warren Beatty Seduced America").
12,775!!! It's not quite Wilt Chamberlain territory (20,000, the NBA great once claimed), but still ... Beatty's rep denounced the book's "false assertions." But let's just do the math here:
Theoretically if he did sleep with that many women -- from, say, the time he was 19 until he was 54 (when he wed Annette Bening), then ...
12,775/35=365 women a year.
365? A different woman every day? (Days off only on Leap Year? Double-duty during those affairs with Julie Christie, Joan Collins, Diane Keaton -- or making up for lost time in between?) Is that how Biskind did his math?
The author, when we demanded an audit, said he was stunned the number got so much press: "What I knew and heard about him, it didn't seem to be unreasonable." But, yes, "this was admittedly speculative," he told us.
"There was no one standing there with a clicker."
