The saga of John Edwards took yet another twist Wednesday when a spokeswoman for the former senator flatly denied that he has proposed to mistress Rielle Hunter.
"Absolutely untrue," Joyce Fitzpatrick told CNN.
The National Enquirer, which first broke the news about the affair, released a story Wednesday claiming that Edwards asked Hunter to marry him last month shortly before admitting paternity of their daughter, Frances Quinn. The story, citing unnamed sources, goes on to say that he bought a $3.5 million dollar beachfront home in North Carolina -- instead of a ring -- for the three of them to live in.
Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, legally separated two weeks ago.
