Lobbyists best lawmakers at annual hockey game
What a difference a year makes! At the first "Lawmakers vs. Lobbyists" hockey game last year, the Hill team slapped down the K Street boys 6-4. But Tuesday's charity match was a different story: The lobbyists embarrassed the Capitol crowd 7-2, with lawmakers eking out their goals at the end (both by staffer-ringers; none of the three other elected reps on the ice scored). "Since the congressional agenda seems to be on ice, we decided to make it official," said Jonathan Grella, the lobbyists' coach. The game raised $52,000 for the Fort Dupont Ice Hockey Club.
UPDATE: An earlier version of this story stated that Sen. John Kerry played in the game; he was on the team roster but did not take to the ice.
