This just in: Ari Fleischer says he no longer reps Tiger Woods; Sri Lankans hurl stones to protest Akon concert

Ari Fleischer never confirmed widespread reports last week that he was working as a media consultant for Tiger Woods. (The first rule of crisis management: Never talk about your crisis management!) But on Monday, the former George W. Bush spokesman belatedly acknowledged he'd taken the job ... when he e-mailed the Associated Press to say he has dropped off the disgraced golfer's image-overhaul team. (Why? The Golf Channel reports Fleischer feared he was becoming too big a part of the story.)
Four people were injured in Colombo, Sri Lanka, when protesters hurled rocks at the headquarters of a broadcaster who is sponsoring an upcoming Akon concert, AP reports. The hip-hop star is unpopular in some quarters there because of his video with French DJ David Guetta for "Sexy Chick," in which some bikini babes dance near a Buddha statue; protesters found it blasphemous.

Most likely Tiger Wood's people recognized that in a media effort built on Mr. Woods sincerity a consultnat whose only demonstrable skill is the ability to lie, and lie, and lie with alacrity was counter-productive.
