Janine Turner brings a rare dose of Hollywood glamour to conservative movement
How many glamorous celebs stump for conservatives? Darned few, which is why Janine Turner's trip to D.C. caught our attention. The "Northern Exposure" actress (now 47 and blond) dropped by Americans for Tax Reform headquarters Monday for the launch of "Constituting America," the educational movement she founded with Cathy Gillespie, wife of former GOP strategist and RNC chairman Ed Gillespie.
"I've always, always been a Revolutionary War buff," she told us. "Now my new official title is actress-singer-constitutionalist."
ATR President Grover Norquist called Turner "very impressive" -- and not hard on the eyes. "She's very pretty," he said. "Not as pretty as my wife, but prettier than all other women than my wife." Any other conservative babes? Norquist thought for a minute and came up blank, so his staff started throwing out names: Carrie Underwood, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Angie Harmon, Victoria Jackson.
Does Sarah Palin count? "Sarah's very pretty," said Norquist, "but she hasn't been in any cool movies."
