This just in: Michael Douglas's son sentenced; Mel Gibson's ex-girlfriend dropping hints

The son of movie star Michael Douglas was sentenced to five years in prison Tuesday for dealing meth and cocaine. A federal judge in New York said this would be Cameron Douglas's "last chance to make it" after years of drug abuse -- the 31-year-old had faced a mandatory 10-year term following his January guilty plea, reports the Associated Press, but the government agreed to a lesser sentence. His Oscar-winning dad (himself the son of Kirk Douglas) wrote the judge asking for leniency, reports the New York Daily News: "I have some idea of the pressure of finding your own identity with a famous father."

Mel Gibson's recently-ex-girlfriend sounds like she has something she wants to share. Oksana Grigorieva, the Russian woman who was There For Him at the end of his three-decade marriage last year and gave birth to his daughter last fall, told reporters in Moscow that "the official version" is "we split up by mutual consent," but "you will find out everything quite soon." (Then she shifted topics to her singing career.)

Once again the rich get special treatment. If it was a poor child 10 year mandatory would have been 10 years not half.
