  • Oprah Winfrey is shutting down her Angel Network, which donated $80 million during the past 12 years. In a statement on its Web site this week, the charity announced that it is no longer accepting donations and will end grants after it has given away the remaining funds. The talk-show queen founded the charity in 1998 as a way for fans to donate to worthy causes; the closing stems from Winfrey's decision to end her talk show next year, reports the Associated Press. Two other charities (the Oprah Winfrey Foundation and Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation) will continue to operate.
