What's also unusual - and maybe incorrect - is that at least one, maybe more, married couple is/are seated at the same table. The only time husbands and wives are seated at the same table is when they are newly weds. Otherwise, the whole idea of a dinner party (including a State Dinner) is to meet new people who have never heard your same old stories before and will (you hope) find them fascinating. It's ridiculous for grown up dinner guests to feel they need to be seated together, and it is, frankly, strange for the White House to seat this way.

I guess you could say this one big table is the equivalent of the two (POTUS AND FLOTUS) tables, so it kind of works around this rule. Still seems odd to me.

KALAMAZOO — The White House appears to be laying the groundwork for President Barack Obama to shake the hand of each senior at Kalamazoo Central High School’s commencement ceremony next month.

Seniors are being asked to provide their birthdates, Social Security numbers and citizen status to the Secret Service so background checks could be performed. Such a check is required for anyone who gets within an arm’s length of the president, students were told at their senior breakfast Friday.

Of the fact that the White House is requesting information on all the graduating seniors, K-Central Principal Von Washingon Jr. told the students, “I’ll let you figure out what that means,” said senior Simon Boehme, who was at the breakfast.

I'm giving up on these comment sites because I always end up getting irritated by some insane redneck nutjob spewing hatred.

How crazy will this country get? It just keeps getting worse I think.

This President has been pretty darn good so far, despite all the obstacles thrown his way by the wackos and corporations.

Sincere question: Why would the White House serve Mexican food to the Mexican President and wife? Haute Mexican cuisine is sublime -- and art. I assume the Calderons can have the best Oaxacan mole, for instance, whenever they please.
