George Stevens Jr., Laurence Fishburne and Cecilia Marshall at Thursday's opening of "Thurgood." (Daniel Schwartz)

  • Chief Justice John Roberts at the opening of "Thurgood" Thursday night at the Kennedy Center. Roberts, along with justices Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, saw the biographical play about Thurgood Marshall alongside Marshall's widow, Cecilia, and their two sons; then met star Laurence Fishburne and playwright George Stevens Jr. at the post-performance reception.

I am glad that John Roberts took in the play. Perhaps he will learn something about how to become a respected jurist (instead of a lackey for powerful corporations).
