This just in...: Bob Kerrey out of running for MPAA job

So much for that! After months of leaks suggesting that former Sen. Bob Kerrey was poised to take the helm at the Motion Picture Association of America, Hollywood's lobbying group announced Thursday that he is no longer in the mix. Kerrey, currently the president of NYC's New School, did a lot to promote that buzz, telling Don Imus in a recent interview he was "in the final stages of negotiations." But sources close to the process say reports it was a done deal were premature. In a statement, Kerrey's office said that "both sides agreed it would be best to break off discussions." The MPAA will keep looking for a new chief; the job's been empty since Dan Glickman left it in March.
