Names & Faces: Park Police escort for the Salahis?

Well, so much for that whole "reality" thing.
Producers of "The Real Housewives of D.C." said Sunday that Tareq and Michaele Salahi got a police escort to a party from a U.S. Park Police car -- not a D.C. police vehicle, as it seemed to appear last week's episode.
The sequence -- taped in October at the Park at on Fourteenth nightclub, showing a squad car, lights -a-flashing, pulling up ahead of the couple's white stretch limo -- prompted the Metropolitan Police Department to launch an internal investigation after an inquiry by the Post. It's a no-no for police officers to escort regular civilians to parties.
But a rep for Half Yard Productions said Sunday a bit of movie magic was at work in that sequence. "We had someone review all of the footage from that party and the police escort for the Salahi's limo was a Park Police escort from the K-9 unit," writes Bronagh Hanley, the company's publicist, via e-mail. "The MPD car featured in the episode was not the escort car and was edited into the shot incorrectly." Reps for the Salahis did not return e-mails asking for an explanation, nor did a spokesman for the Park Police.

It's incredible how much press these two bums continue to get...and we are talking about one would be model (skeletor) and her crook husband (bounced checks, doesn't pay vendors, suspicious handling of charity funds)

OK, let me be the first to ask. What the heck is the Park Police doing escorting private citizens around DC? Please somebody tell me the justification and how it came about.

Jim, you can get your knickers out of a twist...Production companies compensate police personnel and cities to film on public streets alllll the time. Half of the LAPD are paid extras in films! It was for a tv show -- not a "real" escort. The Half Wit publicist doesn't know what he (or she??) is talking about. As far as the MPD launching an investigation, well that's just as silly as these two clowns are.

Why is it "a no-no for police officers to escort regular civilians to parties" but not a no-no for police officers to escort union thugs to a private residence?

The only police escort these two deserve is to the penitentiary.
