Love etc.: Indie-rock royalty Amanda MacKaye weds at Fort Reno Park

Amanda MacKaye and Allen Beland on their wedding day at Fort Reno, Washington, D.C. (Bryan Whitson)
Wed: D.C. indie-rock den mother Amanda MacKaye to photography teacher Allen Beland, in a stealth ceremony Monday evening in Fort Reno Park, where she's the longtime organizer of a summer concert series. The couple of four years didn't want pals to buy gifts, so they invited them to a picnic for MacKaye's 40th birthday before a concert by the Evens (starring her brother Ian of Fugazi fame). Once everyone arrived -- surprise, it's a wedding! "It just seemed like the easiest way," the bride told our colleague Aaron Leitko.

We need positive news like this, on the heels of the news that Bristol and Levi split up, again!
Congrats, Amanda and Allen!
