Flashback: How we knew it was all an act for Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix says "jk!" and we say, "duh!" The Oscar-nominee's collaborator Casey Affleck revealed that the whole homeless-looking rapper persona was just a stunt in service to their forgettable new mockumentary. But we knew Joaquin was tricking a year and a half ago when he appeared on Letterman. D.C. actors dissected his performance and ruled it was just that -- a performance. They caught him breaking character. And while Jason Linkins called it a good acting job, he was "basically just walking around, acting really convincingly addled, and that's just not that hard."
