Read this: Rare Essence reunion, MTV VMAs, Gaga
(Tracy A. Woodward/The Washington Post)
Rare Essence mounts a reunion show in Crystal City with all 28 surviving members. D.C.'s go-go legends have survived violence, the ups-and-downs of showbiz, and plagiarism by no less than Jay-Z... It was a busy weekend for our colleague Chris Richards, who also watched MTV's Video Music Awards and declares it boring; host Chelsea Handler's jokes were both flat and crass. Lady Gaga endorsed a repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" by bringing to the show four former service members discharged under the policy -- and this may be the only time you read about Gaga in the Post's "Federal Eye" column, so be sure not to miss.
