This just in...: Bristol Palin apologizes for her sister's use of anti-gay slurs; Ryan Reynolds, the sexiest man alive

By The Reliable Source

Bristol Palin performs on "Dancing with the Stars," 2010. (AP/ABC, Adam Larkey)

  • Bristol Palin posted a brief apology on Facebook late Tuesday after 16-year-old sis Willow used anti-gay slurs (captured in screen shots by TMZ) to attack a classmate who criticized the family's TLC reality show. "Haha your [sic] so gay," wrote Willow. "Sorry that you guys are all jealous of my families [sic] success and you guys aren't goin to go anywhere with your lives." Bristol also weighed into the debate, but later had a change of heart: "Willow and I shouldn't have reacted to negative comments about our family. We apologize.

  • Ryan Reynolds is this year's "Sexiest Man Alive," according to People magazine. You know the drill: Actor gets the title, then everybody debates whether the titleholder is really that hot -- or not. The only thing everyone agrees on is that he's sexier when he's standing next to wife Scarlett Johansson.

Golly, a little grace being shown in the Palin quarter. But sort of like closing the door after the horse escaped, though, eh?

Nonetheless, kids are kids. They say dumb stuff, they do dumb stuff. They get caught. Hopefully they learn from the experience.

The negative comments were about the show, not the family. *smacks head* I guess it's better to assume everything rather than take the time to actually read what is being said.

Foul-mouthed brats! Sarah Palin has done a heckuva job!

And the Washington Post's former owner never wondered why the Post literally went belly up? It's because of trash articles like this one. Rupert Murdoch must have helped rescue the Wash Post when it was going belly up because the Post is just more of FOX. Hatred towards Obama, all Democrats, and Sarah Palin cannot even burp or that other action, that the Post doesn't cover it. Disgusting and becoming almost impossible to read on-line.

So the Washington Post uses its resources to single out a child who uses the word "gay" as common slang just like millions of people do every day. Oh, but the speech police have labeled it a "slur", so the WP's intrepid reporter singles out the favorite target of the warped liberal media - Palin's Children and goes apoplectic. Get real. It is a queer way of reporting the news.

beachbum, surely there is another blog where a teatardlican drooler like you would feel more welcome? Why do you come here?

What bristol should've said is will should not have responded so crudely to attacks upon her family. I fail to see the fascination of such stupid people such as the palins. Republicans must really be in bad shape to consider sarah the quitter palin a leader.

It's a free country Observer. Plus it is so much fun to see the angry left try to keep other people from speaking and to see liberals engage in the only way they can discuss any issue - hurl personal insults. Sorry, I'm not a liberal. Words don't hurt me. Take your best shot any time and I will be more than happy to respond in kind. Of course since liberals lose every debate the only way for them to prevail is to keep others from speaking. As much as it apparently bothers you, we are all entitled to our opinions. Lose the anger. The election is over. You lost. Obama will lose in 2012. It must be really painful for liberal haters to see George Bush's national popularity equal to the Messiah's. Ouch! As she herself said yesterday, Palin would probably beat Obama in an election. Ouch again!

I don't know whether to be more appalled by Willow Palin's attitude, her language, or her apparent belief that reality TV amounts to success. Still, there's nothing like using a public forum to reveal a few uncensored thoughts...which will duly be recorded and discussed by all and sundry, and perhaps noted when college application time arrives.

    Posted by: AnotherHagman | November 18, 2010 2:28 PM | Report abuse

@AnotherHagman: Do you really think any of the Palin kids are going to college? The only message they're receiving is that fame=cash=success, and education isn't even part of the equation (see, e.g. Bristol Palin's "success" as a "Reality Star" in spite of only having a HS education).

Geez, if Willow is 16 years old, that would mean she is -- or should be -- a high school junior. If she can't spell any better than that, it's time that Mama Grizzly started spending some more time home "mothering" instead of running all over the country telling everyone else how they should live.

I checked with my 17-year-old son.

I asked him about "your so gay". He almost pee-ed himself laughing. He said it is a widely-used rebuke by teens.. sort of a "diss" used when someone says or acts silly, too funny, or too stupid.

He told me it is used in a popular new song by some hot singer named Katy Perry. When I asked him who the heck is Katy Perry.. he remarked laughing... Dad... YOU'RE SO GAY !!

I guess I should have added... this widely-used teen expression is not regarded as an anti-gay slur by teens.

    Posted by: pvilso24 | November 18, 2010 9:30 PM | Report abuse

It's not a new expression. It's been used for years and as the previous poster noted, it's not an anti-gay slur.

I'm more appalled at Willow's inability to write! And don't even try to tell me she's writing in slang. There's a big difference between slang and poor grammar. Clearly education is not a primary focus in the Palin household.

Why should anyone, gay or straight, even have a passing interest on the incoherent rants of mindless children birthed by a stupid woman?

Low IQ's runs in the family.

And yes "Willow", your family may have money but so do drunks and other brainless people who've bought winning lottery tickets. Now, go blow your nose, dimwit.

Where do young teenage ladies learn to talk like this?

And why isn't the mother monitoring her daughters activities on the internet and else where?

And why is Bristol apologizing for her younger sister? It would seem that Bristol is a lot more mature than their mother.

For once I am not outraged by the Palin sister's homophobic and cruel comments. After all, they have been raised by self-proclaimed animals...either pit bulls or grizzlies, I'm not sure which.

Actually, this is to be expected of this family. They are bigoted, homophobic, and cruel so they are not being hypocritical, just true to their natures.

Remember that story? A scorpion needs to cross a stream so he asks a frog to let him ride on the frog's back. The frog says the scorpion will sting him but the scorpion says he won't because if he did, he would they will both drown.

The frog lets the scorpion on his back and halfway across the stream the scorpion stings him. The frogs cries out, "Why did you do that, now we'll both drown!" The scorpion replies; "Because it's in my nature."

It's in the nature of the Palin grizzly-pit bulls to be mean and self-serving and it's in the nature of a lot of Americans to approve of it.

But don't say you weren't warned.

Oh, gosh, cooly, thanks for the chuckle. My God, you're funny and pithy, youbetcha!

Remember, she's a 16 year old kid whose mother drags her around to public venues and a reality show.

What's really sad is so many conservatives are sporting wood because this young girl speaks for them.

I dread the idea of Sarah Palin leading the US. Having said that - let me say the following too. Teenage online behavior shouldn't really be a part of any serious political discourse, but hypothetically, if someone insults my family or mother online, I would respond exactly the way Willow did, probably worse - Bristol need not apologize. If you serve up trash online, you must be prepared to get trash-talk back in kind online. Why the double standard here?

    Posted by: bachman737 | November 21, 2010 3:16 PM | Report abuse

    @beachbum09,
I'm confused about what you are so angry about. The Reliable Source is a gossip column, a (forgive me Roxanne and Amy) rather pleasant read that doesn't require much higher brain power. I can't speak for everyone, but I think that I deserve a little bit of gossip to read at the end of the day after I've been working hard.

That being said, what do you mean wasting resources? This has been all over the internet, and it's not like TRS sent out reporters to Alaska to go get comments on this. How many resources are used with a quick Google search and to type out a paragraph?

Also, you can only single someone out if they haven't already been singled out by their parents. It may not be fair, and it may not be just, but by throwing her hat into the ring, Sarah Palin opened her entire family up to the public eye. If your name is well known, then the things that you do will be well known. In fact, given the recent spate of gay suicides, I think that labeling the derogatory use of the word "gay" as a slur and making an example of a "famous" child using it inappropriately is a good idea. Maybe millions of children ARE using it, but that doesn't mean that it isn't rude and disrespectful.

Lastly, you were the one to start slinging personal insults first, so while I think Observer691 also ought to apologize and relax for overreacting, you aren't entirely in the right either. I mean, "warped liberal media"? Please, calm down. This is the reason our country is so polarized- people assuming that the "right" and the "left" are vile associations. I wonder sometimes if, should we all stop to think about what we're saying before we go off at the mouth, maybe the next generation would get a good impression of the way politics works and be able to get some good things done in this country.
