Read this: Gabrielle Giffords and Mark Kelly, Ashley Turton, Jamie Raskin, Kennedys, Virginia Opera

By The Reliable Source

The Style section looks at Gabrielle Giffords and astronaut husband Mark Kelly. Their three-year commuter marriage has kept her off the D.C. cocktail scene in favor of flying off to meet him in Houston, where distance has kept them perpetual newlyweds, say friends. And science writer David Brown looks at Giffords's long-term prognosis -- which all depends on the path the bullet took through her brain.

Is media rhetoric to blame for Tucson? Or how about every psycho killer's favorite band Drowning Pool, source of the shooter's YouTube soundtrack? Meanwhile, Capitol Hill, still reeling from the Tucson shootings (with staffers wondering about their own safety) is devastated by bizarre fire death of popular lobbyist Ashley Turton, wife of a key White House aide.

Sorry, lots of sad/bad news today. Anything brighter? How about Maryland State Sen. Jamie Raskin, battling colon cancer -- but doing well! -- and advocating for medicinal marijuana but not using it himself. Did the Kennedys, the family, kill "The Kennedys," the miniseries? And fired Virginia Opera director seeks revenge by starting his own rival opera company.
