Hey, isn't that...?: John Mellencamp and Meg Ryan, Warren Buffett, Jasper Johns

By The Reliable Source

  • John Mellencamp and Meg Ryan ducking into BLT Steak downtown for a late lunch Tuesday. Corner booth, by the bar. The divorcing rocker was set to play Constitution Hall that night; his new girlfriend the actress has been accompanying him on several of his tour dates.

  • Warren Buffett dining with a party of seven at the Palm downtown Monday night. The billionaire investor (who sits on the Washington Post board but is stepping down in May) was in town to pick up a Presidential Medal of Freedom. He gamely posed for a photo with a customer who asked Buffett to hold up his wallet. (Why? 'Cause he's money.) Oh, and hailed a cab for himself on the way out -- no car and driver, apparently.

  • Jasper Johns dining at the Prime Rib Monday night with Baltimore mega-collector Robert Meyerhoff. The abstract expressionist also received a Medal of Freedom at the White House Tuesday.
