E tu, Michael Zak?

The freelance historian who wrote the RNC's "heroes" page -- he specializes in the early GOP's support for the abolition of slavery, and this led to a curious amount of 19th-century African American politicians profiled on the site -- joins the pile-on against Michael Steele. Helpfully, he writes about the last time the RNC purged a chairman and got "back to basics."

Zak has showed up at countless RNC events to support Steele, whom he viewed as proof that the GOP could recover its long-lost position as the party of African Americans, so this is quite a jump from the bandwagon.
